Here you are—at the starting line. You’ve put in the work, made the decision, and now you’re running for office. Before you send out your first press release or fundraising email, it’s worth taking a moment to pause, take a breath, and make sure your fundraising foundation is solid.

We’ve created a quick checklist to help you launch strong and avoid common pitfalls. These small details can make a big difference!

Have suggestions to add? We’d love to hear them—email us at hi@goodchange.app.

Quick Checks Before Launch
  • Are disclaimers clearly visible at the bottom of your form? For example:
    • "Paid for by Stacy for Secretary"
  • Are contribution rules listed and visible at the bottom of the form? For example:
    • "I am a US Citizen at least 18 years of age."
    • "I am making this contribution with my own personal funds and of my own accord."
  • Have you previewed your form and ensured the image is properly sized?
    • To preview your form, hit the "share fundraiser" button and paste the link/url into a new browser window. Don't forget to check the mobile view by sending the link to your cell phone!
  • Does your legal limit reflect both the primary and general election totals? For example
    • The Federal candidate campaign limit is currently $3500 per person per cycle. The Primary Election and the General Election are both considered their own cycle, so the limit per person would be $7,000
    • State and local races have varying limits, but the same logic applies where primary elections and general elections are considered their own cycle. See your Secretary of State for more information.

📸 Cover Image Tips
  • Optimal size: 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Leave space around the edges—don’t place key visuals or text too close to the borders

🧠 Smart Form Design
  • Form title: Keep it short and action-oriented. Example: “Join Stacy’s Founding Donor Team!”
  • Description: Briefly explain what the fundraiser supports, how contributions will help, and any other essential info.

📊 Pro Tip: Use Marketing Links

Use the “Marketing Links” tab in your dashboard to create unique links for each outreach effort. This makes it easy to track which emails, texts, or posts are driving donations.

Ready. Set. Fundraise.

Starting strong means sweating the small stuff - because those details add up. Double check your set up and follow a few easy best practices, and you'll be setting yourself up for success from the minute one. Then, it's all about sticking with it, keeping your message clear, and connecting with your donors. You've got this!
