We're thrilled to introduce you to Marcus Jones, candidate for Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District. You may have seen his viral campaign video.

Right out of the gate, it was clear that Marcus had something extraordinary to offer. Though he's a political newcomer, service and sacrifice are all he has ever known.

Jones spent 29 years serving on the frontline as a Field Artillery officer in the Middle East, South Korea, Europe, and across the U.S. He led hundreds of Soldiers during multiple deployments to Iraq and coordinated secret and top-secret missions to eliminate extremist terrorist groups threatening our country and killing our Soldiers. Additionally, Marcus supervised the development and execution of the U.S./Republic of Korea Alliance’s secret and top-secret responses to counter North Korean rocket and missile threats.

The GoodChange team has gotten to know him well over the past year, and our admiration for his leadership and belief in his campaign grows stronger daily. We're incredibly proud to play a small role on his team, and today, we're sharing three reasons why.

1. Marcus Jones is not just willing but delighted to do the hard work. As fundraisers, we often focus on the clock, urging candidates to make calls to voters and donors faster. But when we work with someone like Marcus, who truly enjoys making every call, hearing every story, and making every connection, we slow down and share the joy of these connections. Marcus has a servant's heart, and as the coming weeks get hectic, he keeps us all close to our 'why.'
2. Marcus Jones has an endless well of courage and compassionate leadership. People who serve in the military and run for office are human like you and me. Having the courage to serve on the front lines and then come home and lay it all out again in a congressional campaign - where is the bottom of the well? We don't see it. Marcus’ whole job in the Army was leadership and strategic planning. He delivered NATO’s largest exercise since the Cold War, and a year later delivered an even bigger one…imagine what he could deliver for Arkansas!
3. Marcus Jones has a powerfully demonstrated commitment to his family, country, and our state. Getting to know Marcus has been fantastic, but we also love knowing his secret weapon—his unwavering sense of commitment and duty. His wife Carrie and kids Will and Abby Grace infuse love and energy into the campaign and have done so since day one, and…we're talking about adult children here, who have a choice on whether or not to attend campaign events! And it’s not just his immediate family - he has cousins and aunts and uncles joining in, too. His lifelong dedication to family has yielded a bounty, and it's inspiring to watch.

To see and learn about his military bona fides and to grasp that he retired from the military just to jump into one of the most grueling things a person can jump into—a congressional campaign—well, it knocks our socks off. He's committed to democracy, peace, justice, equality, and equity, which are the core of who he is as a person, father, soldier, and candidate. Arkansas is fortunate to have him, and we are honored to be a part of his team.
